A NOTE FROM DAVID'S DESK

Together, we are able to soak up the joy of summer.

Dear Friend of The League,

School is out for the summer and vacation vibes are taking over The League! Despite the persistent warm weather, the outdoor garden space has become an oasis for games, gatherings, and gardening. The children in our Youth Autism Services Program have been making use of the outdoor space and indoor pool together.

On July 7th, the Rotarians of Baltimore hosted the annual carnival at Camp Greentop for campers and staff members. The day featured popcorn, cotton candy, snowballs, music, face painting, bracelet-making, a dunk tank, a moon bounce, and sports games. As a fellow Rotarian, this is one of my favorite philanthropic traditions and worth every single smile!

The Meaningful Day Program has been setting up new partnerships with other local organizations and trialing new activities like sailing and fishing! I am so grateful that our direct support professionals share in the love of adventure that our participants thrive on. Between the field trips, the carnival, and the downtown explorations, I am happy to report that this summer is full of joy, connection, and pride thanks to supporters like you!

Lastly, I want to congratulate Jessica Holman on being honored as one of The Daily Record's 2026 Leading Women Under 40! As our Vice President of Community Services, Jessica manages community-based support funded by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). Jessica's work ethic and passion are the heart of The League's Meaningful Day Program, which supports hundreds of employment-seeking adults with disabilities every year. She leads by example and honors The League's nearly-century-long legacy of dignity and an improved quality of life for people of all ages and abilities. Congratulations, Jess!
