A Legit 93-Point White Bordeaux for $13.99!

A hugely smart buy from the Domaine de Chevalier team.

At his Domaine de Chevalier estate, owner Olivier Bernard bottles one of the  very best white wines in all of Bordeaux. His 2016 vintage, for example, earned scores as high as 98 and 99 points. Unfortunately, you can't find this wine for under $100.

The good news is that Bernard has a second property that makes what we believe to be the very best  white wine value in all of Bordeaux.

His 2017 Clos des Lunes "Lune d'Argent" has earned a mouthwatering 93-point review from Wine Spectator.  It is one of only four white Bordeaux from this vintage to earn such a high score. The other three wines sell for $152, $32 and $64. We offer you the Clos des Lunes "Lune d'Argent" for just $13.99. Simply fantastic!

2017 Domaine de Chevalier "Clos des Lunes - Lune D'Argent" Blanc
Bordeaux, France
Simply put, this blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc is the best dry white Bordeaux value on the market. Comparable  to many more expensive whites from further north in Pessac-Leognan, it is reticent at first, opening with air and continuing to expand in both flavor and texture over hours and days. Flavors of guava, tangerine, lime and red apple skin are supported by notes of rosemary, pine needle, vanilla and gravelly, chalky minerals. Richly textured with a medium-plus mouthfeel and medium-plus acidity, "Lune D'Argent" finishes long, tasting like a much more expensive effort.

The fruit is hand-harvested on Olivier Bernard's sustainably farmed Clos des Lunes vineyard in the Sauternes region. Raised primarily in neutral vats with a small percentage of new oak, the finished wine is just plain delicious.

The last vintage we featured of this wine earned 92 points from Wine Spectator and sold out in a flash for $15.99. This vintage, a superior harvest for dry white Bordeaux, earned an even higher score and we're selling it for two bucks less!

"Delicious, featuring a mix of pear, tangerine, yellow and green apple flavors, lined with light honeysuckle and fennel hints. Creamy along the edges, and pure and vibrant through the middle. This combines racy and exotic notes in a distinctive package. Drink now through 2023."
- 93 Points, Wine Spectator (2019)

This massively over-delivering dry white is delicious now, will be even better in a year or two, and will drink beautifully for the next half-decade. For lovers of white Bordeaux, Sauvignon Blanc and other precise white wines, this one is a very easy call.
