To all of The Ballard House volunteers, donors and supporters,
Happy New Year!!! What an incredible year 2017 was. My heart is so full as I reflect on the past year and think of all that is ahead. 2017 brought more guests and their stories as we approached offering 30,000 nights of no cost lodging. We had more faithful volunteers and community involvement. We experienced more growth as we often had a Wait List with over 20 names. We had more support with over 18 fundraisers to achieve our mission. We also experienced a devastating flood and were forced to evacuate our guests, find temporary Host Homes, "muck out" our beloved House for 6 days and set our sights on rebuilding. It's with much gratitude I thank of all the help from Board members, my staff, Keller Williams, Boy Scouts, NCL (all 4 chapters), Katy Networking, Grace Fellowship, Chick Fil A, Whataburger, Fluor, Discount Tire, PWC, Service Corp., BB&T, Katy Business Association, both Katy and Cinco Ranch Rotary clubs, Grace Communities, The Ballard Foundation, Allstate, BP, Ballard House volunteers, high school students, community volunteers and more. I'm so very proud to be working side by side with all of you.
My first post after the flood I stated that with hard work, generous donors and God's grace, I believe we'd open again better than ever. That's exactly what's happening. I'm so very happy to report that we're setting our sights on reopening some of the upstairs rooms and common areas in a couple of weeks to our guests. Thank you to all our former guests who have reached out to us, prayed for us and even donated to help us reopen. We truly love you and are working hard to make this a "Home Away from Home" again. We will welcome our first guest on January 20th and open the downstairs rooms as soon as they're complete, likely in February or March.
Early 2018 will also bring some exciting events like our third annual
Sporting Clays Tournament
scheduled for Saturday, February 24th and Sip 'N Stroll in April. Please see our
for information on sponsorship's and how to sign up. Also, in 2018, we plan to expand our facility and offer 16 additional guest suites.
Though Hurricane Harvey caused a long and difficult journey, I'm not sorry for it. It's through the struggle we find our strength. Please continue to journey with us through 2018!
