Dear Clergy,

Blessings to you all in this busy, anxious week. I know we were all praying for certainty in the outcome of the presidential election, and instead it appears we will have to wait a few days longer to be sure of the outcome. This is hard on all of us, and I know that like me, you are praying for peace in our country and a reconciliation of the differences that are bitterly dividing us. For those who are interested, I would like to invite you to the interfaith post-election event below, sponsored by the San Diego Organizing Project. I will be speaking, along with other area clergy leaders.

In the meantime, we received the bad news today that San Diego County has met the criteria for “purple tier” status on the governor’s COVID watch list. This is the most restrictive category and signifies that like our other California counties, coronavirus is now “widespread” in San Diego County. If we meet purple tier status next week also, government rules will require us to hold all our worship services outdoors. Although outdoor services are not yet officially required by the government for this weekend, I encourage you to hold all activities outdoors. It is disappointing that our public health crisis continues to grow, but I ask for your prayers for all those who are ill and all who care for them in this time of pandemic.

I look forward to seeing you at our virtual diocesan convention this weekend. My prayers are with you all as we continue to navigate this challenging time.
In Christ,

The Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook
