Dear Sea Pines Property Owner,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing today to update you on our Greenwood Drive project. We are now on day 4 of this reconstruction project. Currently, the entirety of Greenwood Drive from Club Course Drive to Governors Road is closed both ways for approximately the next 3-4 weeks.

As I am sure you are aware or have experienced, Greenwood Drive inbound and outbound traffic is being rerouted through the Club Course neighborhood via Governors Road during phase one of the project.
Our contractor is on schedule and is currently working on roadway demolition in the project zone; this includes the removal of curbing, as well as the milling of asphalt on the roadway.

I have received comments on pedestrian and bicycle usage of the detoured roadways and primary worksite. I want to emphasize Governors Road and Club Course Drive do not have leisure paths adjacent to them. Biking or walking on these roads is less than ideal under even normal circumstances and certainly not advisable during this construction period. We have sent out advisories to this extent and have posted signs. We understand the inconveniences and have done and will do everything we can to shorten this project. Your safety is critical, please do not walk or bike on Governors Road while we are diverting traffic onto this roadway. If you live on Governors Road or in the surrounding neighborhood and need to access the leisure trail system inside the Plantation, we have opened up vehicular access to Lot 4 which is the open utility easement located at the intersection of Governors Road and Greenwood Drive. You can access this area by automobile via Governors Road. It is also a great place to walk your dog while this project continues. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. We want things to return to normal as soon as possible.

The speed limit along Governors Road is 25 mph. This is the limit, not necessarily the safe speed if you encounter traffic back-ups, pedestrians or bicycles. Please adjust your speed downward accordingly. During this traffic diversion, we ask that you follow all posted detours and be cautious. We have installed speed limit radar signs to monitor the speed of drivers along Governors Road. Flagman are assisting with traffic management and signage is posted to alert those outside and inside the community of the traffic detour.

Again, I ask that while you use these roads you be courteous and aware of those vehicles trying to enter this section of Governors Road and Club Course Drive. Please be courteous, stop and let your neighbor enter traffic when it is apparent they have been waiting to turn onto these roadways from driveways, adjacent streets, the entrance to The Sea Pines Country Club or from Residents Club Villas. I am sure you would appreciate the same if your street or home were in the same circumstance.

The scope of this project is well beyond a normal overlay of asphalt that is normally planned for, as a result of surface deterioration of the roadway. The underlying roadbed infrastructure, slope grades, and stormwater drainage systems are being replaced during this project. Most of these systems are older than CSA’s 30 years of ownership of this road. I appreciate you bearing with the inconveniences that this project has brought to all of you. We will continue to do everything we can to shorten this process.

Again, I would like to thank everyone for their patience and courtesy as we work to make these important infrastructure repairs. We will continue to keep you updated on this project through the communication channels listed below and as always are here for you if you have any questions.
