A Letter From Incoming CTAHE President, Kimberly A. Lumia, MSN, MBA, RN, FACHE
CTAHE Members,

Happy Summer!

As incoming President, I am not only excited but humbled and honored to be chosen to lead the CT Chapter of Healthcare Executives for the next three years.

As a longstanding member and volunteer of CTAHE, the opportunities offered from having a membership have afforded me a tremendous amount of professional and personal growth.  I am committed to sharing my enthusiasm gained from the incredible experiences that being part of our Chapter has offered me with our current and new prospective members so that they too benefit from all that CTAHE can offer to them.

One initiative offered by the Chapter that I participated in was the Board of Governor’s Study Group and from the support I gained in taking that class I passed my Board of Governor’s Examination in 2017. I then had the distinct honor of participating in the Fellow Commencement Ceremony at ACHE’s Annual Congress earlier this year. It was such a memorable experience, and one that without the chapter opening the door for me with the Study Group I might not have explored. I want to encourage my fellow colleagues and members to do the same – take in all that the Chapter has to offer and give yourself the opportunity to elevate your career.

I also want to share that CTAHE’s new year is off to an incredible start! The Annual Meeting on June 14 th was well attended and well-reviewed. We recognized the hard work and dedication of some incredible Chapter members during our awards ceremony, as well as recognizing Chapter Founder Gayle Capozzalo, FACHE as she prepares for retirement from Yale New Haven Health, and thanked outgoing President Gary Havican, FACHE for his tenure. We then had an engaging presentation by Dr. Danielle Ofri who spoke to us on “What Patients Say, What Doctors Hear”, which was very well received by the attendees.

So, what’s next for the Chapter? On July 16 th we are offering a Face to Face Educational Program “Leading & Managing in Challenging Times” that certainly describes the current healthcare environment and landscape. I would also like to welcome our new 2018-2019 Board Officers: Vice President: Mike Novak, FACHE, Secretary: Alessandra Cornelio, FACHE, and Treasurer: Denise Fiore, FACHE. We welcome new Student Leaders as well: Jasie Mathew from Quinnipiac University and Melissa Troiano from University of New Haven. I am inspired by the engagement from our aspiring healthcare professionals and look forward to their participation in our Chapter and on the Board! Also, I would like to thank those whose terms have ended for their years of service and a special thanks to Gary Havican as the Chapter President for the past three years of service to the Chapter.

In closing, I want to wish you a wonderful summer, Happy and Safe 4 th of July!

Warmest regards,

Kim
