Dear Colleagues,
Today President Trump delivered remarks and signed an Executive Order on Safe Policing for Safe Communities. The President shared that to make real progress on public safety, we must break old patterns of failure.
As leaders within the law enforcement profession, we must uphold the highest standards of policing. In the words of our nation's President, "Reducing crime and raising standards are not opposite goals. What's needed now is to bring law enforcement and communities closer together." Let us lead by example by bringing our communities together. We can continue to do this through upholding the highest ethical policing standards, promoting accountability and equity in our departments and profession, and strenghening constructive community engagement.
As an Association we stand behind our vision of "Continuous development of the world's strongest law enforcement leadership network." We will continue to provide premier leadership education and resources to our members, as well as the profession at large, that will have an impact on the work we do and the communities we serve.
I encourage you to take advantage of the training offerings currently available through our website, as well as the education and training available in our upcoming event, FBINAA 2020: CONNECTING LEADERS, our virtual leadership, education and networking event scheduled in September and on demand, as well as our Leadership APB Podcast Series that will be launching this summer.
We stand with the President and today's action as a committed response to criminal justice reform. Now more than ever, we need to bring law enforcement and communities together.
As FBI National Academy graduates and leaders within the law enforcement community, we must be the change-makers and continue to strive towards systemic solutions for our communities.
Stay healthy and safe.
