A Letter from the Headmaster
Dear Lower School Families,

Happy New Year 2021! May this year be a year of health and happiness with an abundance of academic wonder for our scholars.

As we begin school in this new year, please continue to monitor your student’s health. We will continue to maintain our protocols with cohort groups, cleaning, hand sanitizing, and masks worn properly over the nose and mouth. As more students return to in-person learning, we look forward to even richer classroom discussions and shaping the inquisitive minds of our scholars.

Our school motto states, Principium philosophiae est admiratio. This is a quote from Socrates in the Theaetetus and can be translated as, "The beginning of philosophy is wonder." This new near is a beginning as well—a chance to start anew and make changes as needed. The new year is a new opportunity for our students to participate actively, complete work, ask meaningful questions, and explore and wonder about the world around them. We look forward to the students returning, and we look forward to their accomplishments in 2021. Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." We are accomplishing something great at Great Hearts Irving.

In kindness,
Marcy Finn
