A Letter from the Lower School Headmaster
Dear Lower School Families,

As we near the end of the school year, we can look back and recognize that, while this journey that we embarked on together has presented its fair share of challenges, it is not the start but the finish line in front of us now.
End-of-Year Timeline

  • Friday, May 22nd: Academic Zooms end
  • Monday, May 25th: Memorial Day Holiday
  • Tuesday, May 26th: Final packet pick-up and drop-off
  • Tuesday, May 26th: All school-owned materials (textbooks, computers, etc.) must be returned to the courtyard.
  • Friday, May 29th: End of Quarter 4/Semester 2
  • Friday, June 5th: Year-end grade reports emailed
A Note from the PSO

Thank you to all our families for your generous support of our students and faculty throughout the year. On Tuesday, May 26th there will be a bin placed in the courtyard for anything you would like to leave for the teachers to continue showing your appreciation.
Looking Ahead

We are looking forward eagerly to the return to school. Please continue to look for updates and details throughout the summer. We hope to have Kindergarten Preview Night and Meet the Teacher sometime in August. The first day of school is August 19th.
Edukits and Classics to Keep

You may now find information about Edukits and Classics to Keep for the 2020-2021 school year on the Great Hearts Irving website. Ordering an Edukit allows you to complete all your school supply shopping in one step and have everything delivered directly to your door.

The Lower School Classics to Keep list has changed slightly due to the availability of certain editions, so be sure to consult those before next school year. We strongly encourage you to purchase separate editions of each book for each of your children. Doing so will allow our scholars to assemble their own personal library of worthy texts over the course of their time at Great Hearts and graduate with a gift of inestimable value.
Uniforms

Our annual Used Uniform Sale will be held in early August. In addition, Great Hearts has now partnered with an additional uniform vendor. You may now purchase Great Hearts Irving uniforms from either Dennis or Flynn O'Hara who also has a physical location in Fort Worth. Please continue to check the Great Hearts Irving website for more information relating to uniforms as it becomes available.

Uniforms your students have outgrown may be perfect for a new student. Please bring any used uniforms you wish to donate to next year's Used Uniform Sale on Tuesday, May 26th. There will be a bin in the courtyard to receive these donations.
Yearbooks

Due to the pandemic, there has been an unavoidable delay in the printing and delivery of our yearbooks. We anticipate yearbooks being available for pick-up from campus in August for all those who placed orders. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to Mrs. Pantin at [email protected].
We have said many times this year that education is a partnership and that we are in this together. We have been blessed to watch something truly incredible happen over these past weeks as teachers and parents have worked together more closely than ever to ensure our students' learning would continue to the greatest extent possible in a time of unprecedented crisis. Please accept our sincerest thanks for all your hard work at home and for partnering with us in this endeavor. Helen Keller said it best, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.“

Sincerely,
Marcy Finn
