Greetings, Wellshire Presbyterian Church members and friends!
This Christmas, we traded in Christmas boxes and wrapping paper for moving boxes and newsprint paper, preparing our belongings for the move to Denver. I am eager to join you in ministry as this new year and transitional season begins. I already know this much about you: You are a vibrant and dedicated congregation, busy in mission activities and buoyed by strong worship and music, led by a talented staff. It was a joy to get to know you through the members of the Transitional Pastor Search Committee, the thorough documents they presented, and their insightful, challenging questions.
My first day in the office will be January 5th. We will settle into our townhome that first week. I have served as Transitional Pastor for four congregations and, while there are some ‘usual’ tasks to accomplish during every time of transition, I have found that each congregation has its own unique story and needs. I look forward to learning your story—who you have been and your hopes for your future. Together, we will discover the particular work we need to accomplish so that you are prepared to welcome your next installed pastor with renewed vision, open hearts, administrative clarity, and a readiness to follow the Spirit into a new era. So much has changed in the world and in the Church since you last searched for a Senior Pastor over 25 years ago!
Just so we will not be complete strangers, here a few photos: One is from our family wedding in October. I’m standing next to my son, Jonathan and his bride, Becca, with my spouse, Melanie, next to both Becca and my daughter Katherine. Jonathan, Becca, and Katherine all live in Atlanta. Our home is in Montreat, NC (pictured below). Last, but never least, is a photo of our little dog, Bentley, who is still spritely at age 11!
Thank you for allowing me to join you in ministry.
With anticipation and hope,
Kim Clayton
