To: The St. Luke's Congregation
The process of calling a new dean is one of mutual discernment by the congregation, the Lesser Chapter (Vestry), the search committee, and the candidates, in partnership with Bishop Brown and his staff. With the work we've done during this time of transition, the parish is well-positioned to initiate the next stage of the search.
Today, we are pleased to announce the creation of the search committee, whose members will prayerfully and with great care proceed to find the next clergy leader for St. Luke's. We are grateful to the committee members for their commitment of time, energy, and resources.
The process of calling a dean is unique, and we will be providing opportunities to learn about this process in the coming weeks. The first opportunity will be Sunday 3 August in Emmanuel Chapel following the 10:00AM service. This session will also be livestreamed and recorded.
The search committee leadership, in conjunction with the senior warden, will plan for regular, open, and transparent communication that seeks to balance transparency and confidentiality.
Two members of our Lesser Chapter have been chosen to serve on the search committee; their roles on the committee are very distinct and deliberately compartmentalized. The Lesser Chapter will remain focused on leading the Cathedral in intentional, faithful, and healthy ways during this time.
St. Luke's finds itself in a sacred space of transition. We hope this will be a time of creativity, renewal, spiritual abundance, and innovation. The Mission, Hospitality, and Stewardship committees have done great work to get us here, and we look forward to their continued progress as we look to the future.
The search committee members are:
John Bancroft (Clerk), Phoebe Blume, Kathy Coughlin, Ryan Daly, Philip Hamilton, Stan Kuziel, Laura Lyons, Elise Magnuson, Thomas Porto, Misha Pride, Ruth Roemer (Chair), Tim White, Phyllis Wilkins, and Pat Ryan (Diocesan Representative).
There will be a public commissioning of the search committee on Sunday 3 August as part of the 10:00AM service. We ask for your prayers as we begin this next stage in our life as a congregation.
With deep gratitude,
George and John
