A Letter from the Upper School Headmaster
Dear Upper School Parents,

Thank you for providing your thoughtful feedback over the past several weeks as we refine our processes in this new age of remote learning. If you have not yet done so, I hope you’ll consider completing this survey to share your experiences thus far.

As you know, we’ve sought to make virtual tutoring available to students as they work their way through their packets. Today’s sessions mark the second round of such opportunities. As we prepare for the migration of the packets and these tutoring sessions to Google Classroom, please take a moment to complete this vital Parental Consent Form if you have not already done so. We have cherished these opportunities to connect virtually with students. We will continue to offer these optional office hours—details about the next round will be sent early next week.
Week 3 (April 13-17) Remote Learning Packets
Packets are now available to view and download online. Families without the necessary resources to access the packets digitally or print essential pages at home may pick up a printed packet on Monday, April 13 between 8:00-8:00 p.m. For further instructions and details, please review GreatHeartsIrving.org/RemoteLearning.

Returning Week 1 (March 30-April 3) Remote Learning Packets
Packets are due via email by midnight on Monday, April 13 to teachers. Please see here for instructions.

Q3 Grades
Quarter 3 grades will be available to review on Wednesday, April 15 on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please reach out to Ms. Weatherton for difficulties logging on.

Quarter 4 and Semester 2 Grading Policy
In light of the extraordinary circumstances, Great Hearts has adopted a special semester grading policy for Quarter 4 and Semester 2. This policy was developed with input from college and university admissions departments about what would look best on high school student transcripts. Click here to read the policy in full.

Locker Materials
All locker contents have been collected and distributed. If you have not already done so, please plan to pick up the materials on Monday, April 13 anytime between 8:00-2:00 p.m. All drivers should be prepared to provide an ID. If you have any athletic uniforms, please drop them off on April 13.
Our community’s greatest strength has always been our unity around the noble ideals toward which we guide our young scholars. Now, more than ever, I find that unity emboldening us all as we stride into new territory. Thank you for striding confidently down this path with us.

Sincerely,
Philip Althage
