Dear Brick Families,
I write with a few updates and some exciting news to share about our administrative team and the ongoing searches for our next Director and for the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning.
As you know the search to fill the existing Associate Director position has been underway for several weeks. The search team for this position is comprised of Director Amy Warden, incoming Interim Director Marie Fabian, and teachers, Caren Shayne, Lucia Scholar, Cristina Soto, Victoria Ortiz, Betsy Schrade, Jennifer Goncalves and administrator, Anne Schack. All of our faculty and staff, however, have been participating in the interview process for this position, as this individual’s focus will be on Teaching and Learning. We expect to announce the new Associate Director for Teaching and Learning in the next few weeks.
Prior to the pandemic Amy and the Day School Committee had begun a strategic conversation about the ways in which we could be more holistic and how we could maximize our engagement with, and support of, our families. Understandably that discussion took on a new meaning when we were required to focus on the immediate health and safety of our community as we developed and managed our Covid response. We were gratified to launch our Parent Association during that time and I am pleased to share that we have returned to this conversation and have taken an exciting step to further this initiative.
To ensure that we have appropriate resources allocated to cultivate and support relationships with our families, we are re-structuring the leadership team to include an additional Associate Director position. I am delighted to share that Farley Bills will be our new Associate Director for Enrollment and Family Engagement. Farley needs no introduction as she has skillfully and supportively stewarded so many of you through the application process in her role as Director of Admissions and Enrollment over the past 8 years. What you may not know is that Farley has also been a teacher at Brick, is a current parent, and is a Brick alumna. Her significant contributions to strategic initiatives and deep ties to Brick, combined with her warmth and natural affinity for building community make her the ideal choice for this new Associate Director role. Farley will continue to oversee admissions and financial aid, while also serving more formally as a liaison between the Director and families. We congratulate her on her elevation to this new leadership position.
