A Selection of our best titles for June 2018

Summer appears to have arrived! For our town Memorial Day parade, I parked the T-Bird on the front lawn (and even wore my Vietnam unit's hat!) and admired the festivities. Pictured here is a fellow collector's 1956 Ford convertible.

From today's listing, we can see that "The Small House" movement isn't a 21st century development, witnessed by the large number of mid 20th-century plan books here. Also, there is an interesting grouping of regional items from the West Coast, Midwest, and New England.

Hope you find a title or two for your library -

Happy browsing!

Kinnear is a very important manufacturer of rolling doors and storefronts. This is a time capsule from 1951! These four catalogs were mailed to George Bauermeister of the City of Columbus Sewage Treatment Works with a typed letter on beautiful company letterhead signed by James Gaylord in the sales department at Kinnear, and a detail sheet on one particular rolling door of interest. All of these were carefully stored in the last 65 years, and the original letter and the detail sheet have never been folded. An unusual resource for someone interested in rolling doors. Colour in Everyday Rooms
Ionides, Basil
[Paint]. Ionides, Basil. Colour in Everyday Rooms. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1934. Printed in Great Britain. Quarto. pp xii, 115. color frontispiece and many b&w photographs, mostly of home interiors. Signed inside front cover by previous owner, and some marginalia in pencil. Cloth over Boards. Fine.

Very scarce. This book may be similar in title to Basil Ionides' earlier book, "Color and Interior Decoration," but the content is certainly very different. At the time of publication Art Deco was in full swing and Basil Ionides had designed interiors for Savoy and Claridge's, and the influence of the changes in architecture and design on the interiors of this book is striking. However, his attentive eye for the more traditional interior isn't abandoned in this book, and there remains a broad variety of styles for varying tastes. The chapters of the book cover everything from the color of the outside of the house, lighting effects, style revivals and commercial decoration. (18796)    $75.00
