Hello Friends,
April is National Rebuilding Month and the RTMC Team and Board of Directors have been hard at work preparing for our National Rebuilding Weekend coming up on April 29, April 30 and May 1. We’re excited to welcome back our volunteers in force – we’ll have 700+ volunteers from 33 faith and corporate groups fan out across the county to help 24 families in need. We greatly appreciate all of our sponsors and volunteer groups who make our work possible (see list below).
This month we are also celebrating our 100th homeowner served this fiscal year! Homeowner Ms. A. was in desperate need of a new roof and our wonderful partners at Shanco were kind enough to donate the roof free of charge. Special thanks to Joe Stephens, Shanco’s Director of Sales and Operations for arranging this life-changing donation.
Don’t forget to mark your calendar -- we have lots of great events coming up (see below) and would love to see you. Please know how grateful we are to you for your ongoing support of our mission. Together, we are helping to preserve affordable housing and making a tangible difference for our Montgomery County neighbors in need.
All the best,

Thank you to Jim Resnick of Senior Outreach & Education and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service!
We were so grateful to have Jim drop off a generous donation of smoke detectors at our office! Our National Rebuilding Day volunteers will install the smoke detectors in the 24 homes that they will be repairing and revitalizing this weekend, ensuring that our homeowners will be safe and secure with up-to-date alert systems in the event of a fire. Thank you to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service for helping us to keep our homeowners safe!

RTMC is proud to celebrate our 100th homeowner homeowner served this fiscal year! Our 100th homeowner, Ms. A., is a longtime resident of Burtonsville. She currently lives with her brother and her two adult children. In addition to working full-time to support her family, Ms. A. is also a student at Montgomery College working to further her education. Ms. A. had significant leaking in her home and desperately needed a roof replacement. Thanks to our partners at Shanco, Ms. A. received a brand new roof. Shanco generously donated the roof free of charge, and we are very grateful for their help to ensure that Ms. A. will no longer have issues with leaking and will be able to remain dry and comfortable in her home. We would like to extend a special thank you to Joe Stephens, Shanco's Director of Sales and Operations, for arranging the donation, and for his unwavering support of RTMC.
Homeowner Stories: Our Neighbor, Ms. M.
Clockwise from left: Homeowner Ms. M. pictured with RTMC staff member Joni, new grab bars, new flooring
Ms. M. has been living in her home in Silver Spring for more than 15 years and is a single mother to a wonderful son and two very energetic dogs. Ms. M.’s home was constructed in 1949 and was in need of multiple critical repairs, including a roof replacement. Our partners at Central Exteriors replaced Ms. M.’s roof, and our partners at Transformation Contractor, LLC addressed additional repair and accessibility issues for Ms. M., including replacing a broken window, tearing out moldy drywall on the bathroom ceiling and replacing it with new drywall, replacing the subfloor and floor in the bathroom, installing grab bars in the bathroom, and replacing the broken sliding glass door. We are so glad that Ms. M. will be able to live safely in her home for years to come!
Homeowner Stories: Our Neighbor, Ms. L.

Ms. L. is 78 years old and a long-time resident of Montgomery County. When the furnace in her Rockville home stopped working, RTMC stepped in to ensure that she would continue to be safe and warm. Thanks to our partners at GAC Services for replacing Ms. L.'s furnace and restoring comfort to her home!
