A Look at Carnevali Foundation's 2026
work so far...

In the first six months of 2026, in addition to launching new websites in the US and India, Carnevali Foundation has accomplished great work on 9 school adoption projects in India, Nepal, and Ethiopia.
In India, our experienced and highly skilled team is increasingly able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Radhika, Director, and Chandrasekar, Operations Manager, have great vendor relations and cooperation from the Indian Education Office.
In January 2026, they tackled the completion of two schools (Malampet and Gajularamam) and the adoption of two more highlighted in this Newsletter.

INDIA
Two New School Projects Underway

Mettukaniguda School Puja
The Mettukhani Guda Government Primary School was adopted by the Carnevali Foundation in 2026. Sand, wood, brush, branches, and rocks on the other side of the existing wall gave easy access for climbing into the school yard. Security was poor. An increase in enrollment is anticipated as conditions improve. In the photo, Chandrashekar (standing on the left) and the Head Mistress are performing a Puja at the Mettukaniguda School.

Mettukhani School Construction
As part of the School’s much needed renovation, a new compound wall is under construction. A proper secure covering will be installed so students cannot fall into the water-pipe system (note the black square opening in the photo). To meet WASH Standards, an RO system, boys and girls toilets, hand wash and drink stations will be added. Finally additional rooms will be built to provide classrooms, library, an ayah/watchman room and a kitchen.

Possible Site for New School
A large tract of land is being reviewed for the new “Carnevali Nagar School.” We are awaiting final approval from the Government Education Office. The school will include the key features of other Carnevali Foundation schools, but it will be our first fully new construction project—built from the ground up to meet WASH standards and support educational excellence.

Improvements to Existing School
A pre-school on the Carnevali Nagar Campus will house the youngest students. It is under review to determine what additional features should be included: boys’ and girls’ toilets, clean water system, a hand wash and drink station, and a playground are under consideration. Stay tuned...

Six School Construction Projects Underway

Like many construction projects, Chay Ya and Carnevali Foundation continue to navigate challenges including rising material costs, transportation constraints, labour availability and delays in municipal funding. But thanks to the close collaboration between our teams, local communities and municipal partners, all projects continue to move forward.
Once completed, these six projects will provide safe, inclusive learning spaces for more than 1,800 children across Nepal.
Each milestone brings communities one step closer to providing children with safe, inclusive environments where they can learn and thrive.

Chundevi School Construction
This year, the partnership between the Carnevali Foundation, Chay Ya and local municipal partners has made strong progress across six school construction projects in Nepal. These schools were started by the Government Education Office and CF has contributed much needed funding to complete the renovations.

Parsa Pateli School Building
Parsa Pateli School is preparing to welcome students into its new classrooms, while Laxminiya School is entering its final stages of construction. At the same time, work continues at Baragadhi and Ram Kumari School in Madhesh Province, while Shree Chundevi Basic School in Kathmandu and Shree Shankar Basic School in Rautahat continue to expand learning opportunities through new classrooms.

Progress and Challenges at Adigobiye School

New Adigobiye High School Building
In 2026, Carnevali Foundation contributed funds to build the Adigobiye High School, having previously funded its nearby Primary School. Carnevali Foundation has partnered with the Butterfly Onlus organization, an Italian non-profit. We are excited about this school but regretfully have needed to postpone a visit, as the region is not currently recommended for foreign travelers.

New Classrooms at Adigobiye High School
Non-profit Government Schools around the world face many challenges. Construction projects in Government Schools almost always face funding problems. In some areas, earthquakes, washed out roads, and dangerous weather can halt or limit projects. In more fractious regions, construction can be limited or delayed by warring groups in a particular area. Critical to Carnevali Foundation is reporting to show progress as well as info to understand why a school is delayed or outside visitors are not recommended to make a site visit. We admire any organization that works to provide the best schools possible to its students.
