Note: I am going "off-point" today with this rare message--because of my heartfelt fears surrounding the
election of a new president here in the USA. You can chalk it up to my genuine concern for our nation and
for the future of the free world.
As an American citizen and former officer in the United Sates Coast Guard, I have voted in every presidential election since 1968. And I have voted for Republicans, Democrats and Independents. But this article is not about politics; it's about "National Security." I urge you to read the referenced articles carefully and to share them with others.
Unprecedented concern in 2016. After voting in twelve prior elections, this is the ONLY time that
my concern about national security has been the primary factor in choosing which candidate will get my vote. Although I chose my 2016 candidate months ago, I just recently decided to write this article--after learning about the unprecedented actions being taken by many of our nation's top security officials.
Today, I am trying to do my part as a very concerned American citizen by sharing this crucial information with my colleagues, readers and fellow voters.

Two articles led to my decision.
A few weeks ago, I read
an incredibly powerful piece
by Michael Morell, former CIA director. A few days later, there was news about a letter signed by fifty former GOP security officials, warning us that electing Donald Trump would put our nation's security at risk.
These actions are unprecedented in my lifetime--maybe in all of our nation's history. The letter from those 50 former GOP security officials included bold statements like these...remember, these words are from Republicans:
None of us will vote for Donald Trump...He is unable or unwilling to separate truth from falsehood and possesses a set of dangerous qualities that should disqualify him from the presidency...We are convinced that in the Oval Office, he would be the most reckless president in American history.
The Bottom Line. I am writing this message from the heart. Just so you know, I have no particular fondness for Hillary Clinton but, from a national security perspective, she wins this former Coast Guard officer's vote by a landslide. Why? Because of the two choices, she is the one that I would most trust to keep our children safe.
Compared to national security, all other topics, candidate attributes and party affiliation issues shrink to insignificance. ---J. Morris Hicks
Donald Trump is a highly volatile, loose cannon that simply must not be elected to the most powerful office on Earth.
What to do? Vote Green, Libertarian, Democratic or just don't vote--but for this presidential election, please do not vote for Donald Trump. The future of the free world may be riding on how we all vote in November.
