A personal message from Kim Cowperthwait, CMP, and Maryann Gaitain, CMP
We are raising funds to support our dear friend Joanne Dennison during an incredibly difficult time following the sudden loss of her partner, Steve Hoffman, of 17 years. For nearly two decades, Joanne and Steve built a life together rooted in love, partnership, and shared purpose. Not only were they life partners, but they also worked side by side in her CMP business, where Steve played an integral role, especially in managing finances and handling taxes. His dedication behind the scenes helped keep everything running smoothly and allowed the business to thrive.
Steve, also proudly known as “Steve the Great,” or simply “STG,” a nickname he gave himself with the kind of humor and confidence that made people smile, was a truly kind-hearted and generous person who touched many lives in his many communities. Whether through his work, friendships, or everyday interactions, he was always willing to lend a hand and support others. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things, playing pickleball, spending time with his best friend Mike, and especially being with his beloved dog, Hammer, who brought him so much happiness. He also loved spending time in Westford’s Town Common Square, enjoying picnic lunches with Joanne and Hammer, quiet moments together that meant so much.
This loss is not only deeply emotional, but it also brings unexpected financial challenges as Joanne navigates life and business without STG by her side. The funds raised will help ease some of those immediate expenses, provide stability as she moves forward, and also allow her to continue working on her garden—something she and Steve had planned to enjoy together this spring and summer. We are asking for support to ease this burden, whether by covering immediate expenses or simply giving her the time and space to grieve without added stress. Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. If you would prefer not to donate here, another heartfelt way to honor Steve’s memory would be to make a contribution to one of his favorite places in town, the J.V. Fletcher Library in Westford, Massachusetts. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much. Thank you for your kindness and support, and for helping us honor the memory of someone who gave so much to others.
