Dear Friends,
As we head into Thanksgiving week, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be part of a community that shows up for one another,
on the good days,
on the hard days,
and on all the ordinary days in between.
Here, nothing we do happens in isolation. Every support group, every prevention lesson, every family who walks through the doors of a Family Success Center, every person who finds hope in a recovery meeting is connected to a larger story, one which you are also a part of.
Because of you, families across Union, Middlesex, and Hudson counties (and beyond!) have safe, welcoming places to go when they need resources, connection, and a listening ear.
Because of you, people in recovery have peers walking beside them as they rebuild their lives.
Because of you, young people are learning the skills to navigate stress, substance use, and mental health challenges with support instead of shame.
This year, your partnership has meant:
- Parents finding a community of other caregivers who “get it.”
- Young people discovering that recovery is possible and that they are not alone.
- Neighbors who might otherwise fall through the cracks being connected to housing, food, treatment, and hope.
You may see a donation receipt,
a volunteer sign-in sheet,
or a flyer you shared on social media,
but what we see are the faces and stories behind those actions.
We see the grandparent raising their grandchild who leaves one of our centers feeling a little less overwhelmed.
We see the person in early recovery who takes home a phone number from a peer and decides to give life one more chance.
We see the kid who walks into an after-school program and starts to believe in their own future.
This Thanksgiving, all of us at Prevention Links are holding deep gratitude for you, for our participants, our partners, our donors, our volunteers, and our staff. You are the reason we can keep showing up, day after day, with the message that everyone deserves a healthy, connected, and hopeful life.
From my family to yours, I wish you a peaceful, safe, and restorative holiday. Thank you for making Prevention Links part of your community and for allowing us to be part of yours.
