Dear Friends,
After several months on pause, we’re thrilled to share some great news: our Recovery Management Checkup program is back up and running.
Thanks to new funding from the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), we are once again able to deliver this vital service to people across New Jersey.
When federal cuts forced us to put the program on hold back in April, we knew we couldn’t let that be the end of it.
Too many people had benefited from this proactive approach to supporting recovery. So we went to work, advocating, partnering, and planning. This new funding means we can continue doing what we know works: staying connected, offering support, and helping people sustain recovery over time.
Recovery Management Checkups are, at their core, about continuity and care.
Think of them as a routine health checkup, but for your recovery.
The idea is simple: recovery doesn’t end when treatment does.
Just as we monitor our physical health, people in recovery deserve ongoing opportunities to check in, reflect, and reconnect to support if needed. Through regular, scheduled follow-ups, participants can identify risks early, link back to services quickly, and build the stability and confidence that sustain long-term recovery.
The evidence behind Recovery Management Checkups is strong and deeply human. Studies show that people who participate in RMC programs are more likely to stay engaged in treatment, experience fewer and shorter recurrences of use, and maintain overall wellbeing.
Beyond the research, what makes RMC so powerful is the message it sends: that recovery is not a one time event, but a lifelong journey worthy of ongoing care and attention.
A Recovery Management Checkup is one of the most concrete ways we move toward a recovery-oriented system of care, one that treats recovery with the same continuity and compassion as any chronic health condition. It reflects our belief that no one should have to navigate the ups and downs of recovery alone, that when someone chooses recovery, their community stands ready to walk beside them for the long haul.
We’re deeply grateful to DMHAS for their leadership in restoring this funding and to our partners at Prevention Is Key for walking alongside us in this statewide effort. Together, we’re helping to make sure that recovery in New Jersey is not just possible, but sustainable, supported, and here to stay.
