Dear All Saints’ Family,

I have missed seeing you each day.  It’s not the same without your smiles, hugs, and energy!

As we begin the last week of this school year, I want to share some thoughts and reflections with you.

All Saints’ students, parents, and grandparents have been an integral part of my life for 25 years.  I am grateful for this journey and for the future opportunities that this amazing school has to offer.

We have laughed, cried, planned, and faced uncertainty and changes, often throughout generations.  My door has always been open to you.  We have shared celebrations, and we have respected and listened to one another to work through concerns to find solutions.

After my official retirement at the end of June, I will continue to support efforts to see that All Saints’ thrives and serves our community.  I am committed to a positive transition for our school administration in this ever-changing world.

I have been meeting with Evan Powell, the new Head of School and Ashley Stokes, Associate Head of School to review, evaluate, and plan the best ways to move forward with our students, families, and faculty.  I have also been meeting with current and new faculty and staff members, and I look forward to sharing updates with you about them soon.

Thank you for participating in our recent Parent Survey.  We have read each of your responses and evaluated common topics including technology, distance learning, health and safety, and communication.   We have also conducted a survey and held meetings with the teachers to share ideas and experiences about distance learning to determine our needs for the future.

Here are some of our expectations for 2020-2021:
  • A continuous review of our curriculum and academic plan throughout all grade levels
  • All classroom teachers trained and certified as Google Level 1 educators
  • Google classroom training for students
  • Small class sizes and individualized instruction
  • Continuing assessment of each student’s progress and needs
  • A parent portal with convenient access to information about our curriculum, grades, attendance and other important communication
  • Well-researched and fluid options for distance learning, face to face classroom instruction, or a combination of both
  • Academic, social, and spiritual support throughout the year
  • A continued focus on wellness, health, and safety

This is a bittersweet time for me as I retire, but I am looking forward to enjoying more time with my family, especially my grandchildren!  It is an honor to join the Former All Saints’ Teachers (FAST) club of more than 50 retired All Saints’ educators who meet regularly to support one another and the mission of our school.  I know that you share my commitment to the future success of All Saints’ as we continue to provide a safe, academically challenging education in a Christian environment.

With love and gratitude,
Joan
