Dear Cathedral Family,
I write to ask for your prayers for the people of Ukraine. Daily as we watch the news of the tragic events happening in Ukraine, it is a reminder that when someone is suffering, the entire body of Christ suffers.
I also ask that you invite people to embrace solidarity in any way possible and if able, please donate to Episcopal Relief & Development towards the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. click here
I am working with Andrew May and Congregations Committee Chair, Jilda Aliotta to facilitate a conversation about the situation in Ukraine and create a prayerful space for us to gather in conversation. I shared about this effort in the announcements on Sunday.
Cathedral member Carolyn Dorais noted that St. Bart's in New York City is hosting a forum on Tuesday evening, March 8 at 6:00 p.m. Please see the information below.
Also, Jay Lechausse noted that our Cathedral, in the times of Canon Jones, visited the Soviet Union and he still has fond memories of such an important trip. We have the human connection with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and now we have another connection that relates to our Cathedral history.
Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn, but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
