Dear Graduate and Continuing & Career Education Students,

I wish to thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time of great challenge and uncertainty.

This ever-changing global health crisis has affected the lives of individuals throughout the world, including those within the Assumption community. While many of you are accustomed to online learning, I recognize that the coronavirus pandemic has impacted you and your families in a very unique way, both inside the (virtual) classroom and in your daily lives.

For those who plan to graduate this year, know that the unpredictability of the coronavirus situation has required that we postpone the Baccalaureate Mass to Saturday, August 22 on campus and the College’s 103 rd Commencement to August 23 at the DCU Center. Additional details will be shared once confirmed.

Pursuing a certificate, associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree under “normal” circumstances present a number of challenges. These challenges include finding time to focus on your studies as well as full-time jobs, spending time with your families, and caring for children, parents or elderly relatives. The current state of the world has compounded those challenges, complicating already intense and busy schedules with stay-at-home orders and closures that affect childcare and even employment status.

Know that we are thinking of and praying for all of you as well as for the health and safety of your families. I hope you all employ the proper precautions put forth by our nation’s health experts in order to stay safe and healthy during this pandemic.

I thank you for choosing Assumption for your degree or certificate program. Rest assured that despite this situation and the many changes taking place in our world today, your professors remain committed to you and the successful completion of your program. To those of you who are in your final semester of study at Assumption, we look forward to seeing you in August to celebrate your achievements.
