I want to share with you a message from Larry Glickman, Director of Shared Services at the URJ on the shooting earlier today in Highland Park, IL.
"Today, we grieve together in response to another mass shooting in America. Today, we saw six people killed and more than two dozen people injured in a mass shooting during a 4th of July parade in Highland Park, IL.
There are many URJ affiliated congregations in the area, and we know that members of some of those congregations are among the killed and injured. We also know that OSRUI campers and staff families from the area are all safe and accounted for.
Today, we all grieve together. We grieve for the lives lost, and the for lives forever changed. We grieve for our collective innocence that, day by day - tragic event by tragic event, feels farther and farther away. We grieve together and pray for the people, communities and congregations affected by today's events. We pray that the killer is apprehended soon."
