Dear BGCD Community,
In these very uncertain and unprecedented times a lot has changed - more people staying home and more businesses closed and families faced with a month’s worth of bills without a paycheck - But, even as these struggles seem overwhelming - we know more has remained steady and constant. Our mission to support young people and families throughout our community hasn’t missed a beat. The team at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester is providing grab and go meals ; connecting families with emergency funds and resources as well as creating new ways to give our members meaningful program options and connections - virtually
Now more than ever our program leaders and staff are needed. They have re-imagined and reinvented every aspect of how they work and engage with members and their families. Their work has never been more a labor of love than it is today. We are so proud of each and every one of our team members. Our leaders are an example to our young people and families of what being a Bostonian is all about - we don’t give up - we don’t stop doing our work - we never leave anyone behind. Instead: We get stronger - we re-purpose our talents, we reinvent our jobs and we reach out to more people giving them the tools to help themselves and others - we give hope. It is this spirit that is alive and well within our community - no walls or barriers can dampen our resolve.
We have more to do - please stay in touch and use the resources we are providing to help those in your own community who may need a little extra support. Our mission isn’t ours alone - #WeAreDorchester
Thank you to everybody in our Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester family, please stay healthy and well and know we are always here for you.
