A Message from the President

Dear Sea Devil Community,

CFCC campuses are seeing renewed energy from students, faculty, and staff after the holiday season, and I am excited to share some wonderful developments for 2024.

We are thrilled to announce a $3 million donation from Dan Saklad, CFCC's largest naming gift to date. CFCC's newest building will now be known as the Dan and Sheila Saklad Health and Human Services Center. We sincerely appreciate this gift and the Saklad family's dedication to education and healthcare.

CFCC's recent New Hanover Community Endowment grant award totaled over $15.6 million. Over the next few years, this funding will help CFCC significantly increase our nursing and health care programs' capacity and allow us to develop more workforce pathways for New Hanover County high school students.

Congratulations to Zachary Pluer, who has been appointed Executive Director of the CFCC Wilson Center. Zach's diverse background in music, language, arts administration, performing arts, and education makes him well-suited to take on this pivotal role.

Curriculum enrollment for the spring semester began approximately 5 percent higher than last year. Our efforts to help students achieve their academic and career goals are having an impact, and we are pleased to see our halls full of students eager to learn and grow.

To continue reducing barriers to education, one of CFCC's newest initiatives addresses transportation challenges. In partnership with WAVE Transit, we are providing a limited number of free WAVE bus passes for students. We encourage students to reach out for assistance when faced with transportation issues.

Registration is currently open for the spring 12-week and 8-week sessions. Plenty of courses and class types are available to suit the needs of all students.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We look forward to amazing things in 2024.
