A Message from the President

Dear Sea Devil Community,

The beginning of the fall semester has brought a renewed sense of energy and optimism to campus. It's refreshing to see our students return, ready to partake in another year of learning, growth, and transformation. I'm excited to share some noteworthy developments highlighting our commitment to excellence and community partnerships.

During our annual in-service meeting, we presented three service awards to our exceptional faculty and staff, who dedicate themselves daily to making CFCC an inspiring place for student growth and learning. In this newsletter, we're excited to showcase these outstanding individuals – we encourage you to take a moment to get to know their remarkable contributions.

CFCC is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and economic development in our community. I am pleased to share that CFCC and Genesis Block have joined forces to establish Block Eatz, a culinary incubator encouraging innovation among local entrepreneurs. This platform provides aspiring culinary professionals with the tools and mentorship needed to test their restaurant concepts, promoting entrepreneurship and economic growth in our community. It also provides a dining option for students, faculty, staff, and community members at the CFCC North Campus.

We value our unique relationship with area K-12 schools. Just last week, Pender County Schools recognized CFCC for our unwavering commitment to education in the Pender County School system. This recognition is a testament to the positive impact CFCC has on the community, underscoring our mission to be a pillar of support and progress.

Although fall sessions are underway, there is still time to pick up a class or two! The upcoming 8-week mini-session starts October 17. This session offers an excellent opportunity for students to get ahead for the spring semester. Winter session classes will also be offered in an online, accelerated environment for individuals who wish to take a class over the holiday break.

In-Service Awards

Join us in congratulating Robin Hardin as this year's recipient of the Marilyn Goodman Anderson Endowed Award for Excellence in Teaching! Robin’s journey through education is marked by her own experience within the community college system, where she discovered her passion for teaching.

Congratulations to CFCC employees Jeannie Jordan and Alvin Coleman for being selected as the 2023 recipients of the President's Award! We take great pride in having Jeannie and Alvin in our CFCC family, and we are thrilled to see their exceptional contributions to our students and community acknowledged and celebrated.

In the Spotlight

CFCC’s Latino Outreach Coordinator, Jocelinne Perfecto, embarks on her mission to make a positive impact on the lives of current and prospective Latino students.

Sam Taylor's journey has been marked by determination and adaptability. When TRU Colors Brewery closed, she embraced a fresh career path through CFCC.

CJ Jones discovered a new career option via a CFCC Facebook post. Now, he's pursuing an associate degree in Mechatronics as a Corning Technician Pipeline apprentice.

Brian Allen, a CFCC alum and New Hanover County native, recently assumed the role of principal at Burgaw Middle School. His journey began with teaching swim lessons.
