A Message from the President

President Jim Morton

Dear Sea Devil Community,

As we enter a new year, I am excited to share how Cape Fear Community College embraces new opportunities to serve our students and community better. This year, we are proud to introduce several new programs designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in growing industries. From Neurodiagnostic Technology to Aviation Maintenance and Baking and Pastry Fundamentals, our planned new programs represent our commitment to innovation and workforce readiness. Other new offerings include Computer Tomography (CT) and MRI, Construction Superintendent, Drone Pre-Licensing, Geomatics (Property Surveying), Heavy Equipment Operation, and Dog Training. These additions to our slate of programs ensure we are equipping our students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s job market.

To complement all of the new programs, we will continue to invest in our facilities to create enhanced learning environments for our students. Renovations to the second floor of the L Building will transform the space into a modern resource hub with an updated library and modern learning labs. These improvements will provide students with spaces that foster collaboration, innovation, and academic success.

In addition to these developments, we are advancing a united college model to improve the overall student experience. As one of the first steps, we have created a Career Resource Center to serve as a “one-stop shop” for career planning services and all career-related college programs. This center offers major and career exploration, resume and cover letter assistance, interview preparation, job search assistance, apprenticeships, and coordination for work-based learning. The Career Resource Center will also host career fairs and work to build strategic partnerships with local employers to create clear and robust career pathways for our students. Working together across departments and improving processes ensures every student has the support and resources needed to succeed.

As we look ahead, I am optimistic about the opportunities this new year brings. Our commitment to student success and community impact continues to shape everything we do. These new programs, facility enhancements, and initiatives are just the beginning.
