Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

On behalf of Bishop José, I am delighted to share the news of the calling of the Rev. Gaelyn Evangreen as the campus missioner to Western Carolina University and the Rev. Kevin Todd as the interim director of Blue Ridge Service Corps in the Diocese of Western North Carolina.

The Rev. Gaelyn Evangreene is the rector of St. David’s in Cullowhee and is excited to be named the new campus missioner to Western Carolina University.

Gaelyn worked alongside Kelsey Davis since the summer of 2020, when they both began their respective ministries in Cullowhee. She is honored to continue working with the students at Western in this new capacity.

The congregation of St. David’s has been blessed by the vibrant and growing community of students. Parishioners have already been highly engaged in the ministry through providing meals, joining students for dinner, conversation, and games, befriending students, and taking on mentoring roles.

Gaelyn is looking forward to the increased time and presence on the Western campus and the opportunity to meet and engage with more students. The ECM@WCU student leadership and Gaelyn will be working together over the summer to envision further the work we will do together when school resumes in August. Until then, Gaelyn is excited to get to know others on campus who support students and to meet other campus ministers in the area.

Kevin was ordained to the priesthood in March of 2021, and he has been serving as priest-in-charge at St. Paul’s, Edneyville, since his ordination.

He and his family have called the Hendersonville area home for nearly ten years. During that time, Kevin has devoted his time to caring for his growing family while working with several organizations doing work at the intersection of food insecurity and community building.

Kevin spent several years working as a Palliative Care Chaplain after graduating from Duke Divinity School.

Kevin is excited to step into the role of Interim Director of Blue Ridge Service Corps. Recognizing the phenomenal program that has been built in the past few years, Kevin is looking forward to continuing the work that has been established and is eager to journey with corps members through their year of service.

Please join me in extending heartfelt gratitude to Gaelyn and Kevin for stepping into these roles!

Faithfully,

The Rev. Canon Augusta Anderson
