Dear friends,

I am writing to share that Canon Jennifer King Daugherty has resigned her position at Saint Mark’s Cathedral. I am saddened by this, but as she says in her message to the cathedral parish below, she trusts the Holy Spirit is guiding her in this move, and I trust that, too. In her nearly nine-and-a-half years at Saint Mark’s, first as a curate then as canon, Jennifer has touched many lives, mine included, and I am grateful for the gifts of ministry she has shared with this community during her tenure. She has my best wishes and support as she turns now to new ventures. The wardens and I have begun transition planning, and I will share more about that in the coming weeks. Jennifer’s last day will be Sunday, January 28, when we will celebrate her ministry with receptions after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services, and bless and send her from the baptismal font, as is our custom. Please join me in thanking Jennifer for her ministry among us and blessing her in what comes next.

Faithfully yours,

The Very Reverend Steven L. Thomason

Dean and Rector

A Message from Canon Jennifer King Daugherty

Dear friends,

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve the Saint Mark’s community as priest and pastor for almost ten years. I have loved being in ministry with you, with Dean Thomason, and with the dedicated clergy and cathedral staff. I am inspired by the community’s faithfulness and creativity and see the Holy Spirit at work, always making things new. I trust the Holy Spirit is guiding me, too, and as I discern my next chapter of ministry, I look forward to delving deeper into Celtic Christianity and prayer practices. Please know my love and prayers for you continue. God bless you and keep you; God’s face shines upon you, this day and always.

Your sister in Christ,

Jennifer+
