A Message from Dean Thomason
Kelly Moody Resigns to Begin Internship
Dear friends,
Saint Mark's Cathedral’s Associate for Spiritual Formation, Kelly Ramer Moody, has informed me of her intent to resign her position on staff effective February 12, 2021, as she turns her focus to next steps in her formation and discernment for ordained ministry. Bishop Rickel is appointing her to serve a one-year internship at St. Michael and All Angels Church in Issaquah. The smaller church will afford Kelly a very different learning experience from Saint Mark’s, and is similar to what Bishop Rickel has done with other discerners in recent years (including Chris McPeak, who was assigned to Christ Church, Seattle, and Phillip Lienau, who has served this past year at Church of the Redeemer, Kenmore).

While this is sad news for us in the cathedral community, we also bless Kelly as she turns to the new venture, knowing that the new experience will serve her well in her formation, and we trust the Church will be enriched for her sharing her gifts in that setting also. As Kelly notes in her message below, she will continue to serve as a co-mentor for the Monday morning EfM group, and her children will continue to participate in the Cathedral’s Choir School. Additionally, Saint Mark’s remains her sponsoring parish for her ongoing discernment. We are delighted for these connections, even as she devotes her time and attention to the St. Michael’s community in the coming year.

Transition planning has begun for Kelly’s particular areas of ministry, including Children’s and Family formation, Radix Project coordination, and baptism preparation. We will have more information to share in the coming days, but for now, please join me in thanking Kelly for her ministry among us these past several years. We will formally bless her as a community on her final Sunday February 7, as is our custom, and I am delighted that she has agreed to serve as our preacher on that day as well.

Your Brother in Christ,
The Very Reverend Steven L. Thomason, Dean & Rector
A Message from Kelly Ramer Moody

It has been an honor to serve children and families at Saint Mark’s these past three and a half years and deepen our faith together! I've especially enjoyed partnering with other ministry leaders to engage children in our worship, supporting parents in their roles as pastors of children’s spiritual lives, and facilitating intergenerational connections among you all through seasonal formation events. You are truly the children’s ministers in this place, and our children’s faith bears witness to your example. It has also been a joy to nurture and support the Radix Project small group ministry over the last year, and companion baptismal candidates toward full incorporation into this thriving community of faith.

For some time I have been discerning a desire to further explore my sense of call to ministry in a smaller parish, and I look forward to doing so this year at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Issaquah.  I will also continue my work as an occupational therapist for children with special needs at Seattle Therapy Network. Here at Saint Mark's, I will continue to co-mentor EfM on Mondays and to support my own children’s participation in the Choir School here. I look forward to continuing on with you in those ways.
