Dear friends,

It’s hard to believe it’s time for us to say goodbye to Father Santi as his curacy at St. David’s comes to a close. Santi and his wife, Julie, have received new calls in the Washington, DC area. Santi will be the associate rector at an Episcopal church in Northern Virginia. Julie will be the new lower school chaplain at National Cathedral School in Washington, DC.

Sunday, May 29, will be Father Santi's last day at St. David's. He will preach at all the Sunday morning services in Historic Church. Join us for worship and let us celebrate and give thanks for Santi’s ministry as curate and director of outreach.

It is the church's longstanding tradition to collect a ‘purse’ from parishioners for our clergy as they depart St. David’s. If you would like to contribute to Father Santi’s ‘purse’, please write ‘Santi Rodriguez’ in the memo line on your check or online donation. For questions please contact Eric Malnassy.

Welcome, Kristin Braun
I am excited to announce Kristin Braun as our new curate and director of community engagement (formerly Outreach Ministry) at St. David's. Kristin served as a chapel intern at Trinity Episcopal School in Bee Caves and will graduate from Seminary of the Southwest this month.

Kristen and her family will join our parish after her ordination to the diaconate on June 25. Later this summer, Kristen will join the St. David’s staff on Aug. 21 after completing her Clinical Pastoral Education at Baylor Scott & White in Temple. Fr. Chad McCall will serve as interim director of Community Engagement until that time.  

Please join me in wishing Santi and his family the best in their next chapter and welcoming Kristin as she begins her curacy at St. David's.

A Message from Kristin Braun

As a molecular scientist, loving and equal partner, and spicy mama to two teenage girls, I have lived in Austin for nearly 20 years.

I was a member of St. Matt’s for 18 years and served as junior and senior warden on the vestry. I am trained in Brené Brown’s Daring Way and authored the Forming Families Curriculum. I have also worked in nursing facilities, emergency rooms, group homes, and camps for people with differing abilities.

I am an advocate for people with special needs and a supporter of public education and children in the State of Texas. I am passionate about LGBTQIAP+ rights, I am a justice ally for women and people of color, and believe in the liberation and freedom of all God’s people.

I am a firm believer that most things can be fixed with therapy, time with your people, and floating in a large body of water.

I look forward to meeting you in the midst of this gorgeous city and joining you in the ministry you breathe yourself into daily.
