A Message from Jim Gray
Orlando City Commissioner
Veterans Day Parade

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council will host the 19th annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. to honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces who have fought for our nation’s freedoms.

The parade will feature marching bands, ROTC units, active duty military, decorative floats and veterans groups from all military branches representing a wide variety of conflicts.

This year’s theme is honoring Purple Heart recipients and their families.
Free Trees Are Back s
The City of Orlando, OUC and the Florida Forest Service are offering Orlando residents up to two FREE trees for their household as a part of Mayor Buddy Dyer’s One Person, One Tree initiative. We have multiple species to choose from this season.
The City of Orlando recruits, places and recognizes citizen and employee volunteers who assist in various City department projects and at special events.

Apply for unique and rewarding volunteer opportunities in your community. What does volunteering in our youth programs look like? Here are some examples:
  • Mentor a student: Invest your experiences and knowledge in our city's youth.
  • Youth football coach: Grab the whistle and guide a group of kids on and off the field.
  • Support a community center event: Help our centers during holidays, senior nights and tournaments.
  • STEM instructor: Guide our youth in STEM programs such as Hour of Code or the Robotics team.
