A Message from Jim Gray
Orlando City Commissioner
Hurricane Preparedness we have compiled a list of the top 5 items you need for your emergency kit. Remember the more you prepare now, the less you will have to head out to the grocery stores to grab supplies. By preparing early, you save yourself stress and time.
  1. Water. Don't wait until the last minute to buy water; it is usually the first to go once a storm is announced.
  2. Food. 3-7 days of food is recommended, cans of food are great to keep stocked, just make sure you have a manual can opener.
  3. Lighting. A combination of solar-powered lighting, battery-powered lighting, and candles are a great way to stay prepared.
  4. Cooking Source. Mini propane tank stoves or a stove in a can is a great way to heat up food or water.
  5. Communication. A hand crank or battery powered radio is a great way to stay connected if your phone runs out of battery.
