M'KOR MAIL
September 4, 2019
As we enter the first Shabbat of the Hebrew month of Elul, it's no small coincidence that we read the Torah portion Shoftim, whose opening words are Shoftim v'shotrim titeyn lecha - "Judges and officers shall you appoint." And the Torah portion also provides us with the vitally important teaching of our Jewish tradition: Tzedek tzedek tirdof - "Justice, justice shall you pursue!" The Hebrew of both passages provides us with much to discuss, particularly in light of the personal and inter-personal work we are to be doing in this month leading up to the High Holy Days.

This Friday evening, our Erev Shabbat service begins at 8:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Shabbat morning, I will be leading Torah Study at 9:00 am, which will be followed by our weekly Spice Up Your Judaism program at 10:30 am. Also at 10:30am, our Shabbat morning service begins in our Main Sanctuary, during which we will celebrate the B'nai Mitzvah of Ross Stern-Taubman and Seth Stern-Taubman. And, this Sunday, we kick off our new Religious School year! We can't wait to see you!

As we move throughout the next couple of months, there are SO many events, programs, and services filling our synagogue calendar! Please make sure to check the website and the newest edition of The Source for all of the up-to-date information!

L'shalom,

Rabbi Jennifer L. Frenkel

If you have the name of someone you would like to have included in our Healing Prayer (Mi Shebeirach) that is recited at our Shabbat services, please let us know by noon each Friday so we can give the name to our clergy.
