A Message from Ramapo Indian Hills Regional on School Safety

June 3, 2022

Dear Ramapo Indian Hills Community Members:

Earlier today, it was reported to us that a threat of violence was made several weeks ago over a social media platform by a Ramapo High School student while engaged with other students in online video gaming off school grounds and after school hours. The incident was investigated by the school administration and reported to the local police as per our Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement Between Education and Law Enforcement Officials. It was determined that this was not a credible threat to our school community and the administration is providing the necessary resources for the student and the student’s family to address the student’s actions.

As parents, you can help us. Please speak to your child and encourage them to let a teacher or administrator know if a situation exists, which could ever place them and others in danger, and, about the importance of school safety and acceptable behavior. While peer pressure is great at this age, we want to encourage students to feel comfortable reporting any information they may have that compromises their safety and the safety of others. Only by working together as a close-knit school community can we maintain an environment where students are free to focus on learning.

As always, we welcome your comments and questions. Please do not hesitate to contact your building or child’s grade level administrator if you have any concerns.

All my best,
