Dear Friends,

I hope this email finds you healthy amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and stay at home orders. These are unprecedented times, as we adjust to a new normal. I want to bring you up to date with the new normal for Sinai Temple and where things stand today with our community.

·      The Temple building was officially closed last Friday and remains closed.

·      All employees are receiving their paychecks and have been told to work from home. We continue to employ security to watch over our building even while closed.

·      Our staff and volunteers have been working with our Membership Department to call all congregants over 65 to check in on them. This outreach has been very well received and our congregants have been appreciative. We are now expanding the calls to all congregants. If you would like to assist making calls to check-in, please contact Rebeka Small at [email protected] by Monday, March 30 . We want to convey to all members that we are here and want them to stay connected to each other and to Sinai.

·      As stated previously, all in-person programs and meetings have been canceled until further notice.

·      The Annual Meeting of the Membership, which was scheduled for the third Tuesday in April, will take place when it is safe to hold it.

·      We continue to live stream our services and classes on YouTube and Facebook . Please visit sinaitemple.org for the schedule of programming.

·      Virtual Pesach services will have a different look, as we use more technologically advanced systems. Please stay tuned for an e-mail this Sunday with further Passover info.

·      We will have a virtual Seder streaming from the home of Rabbis Guzik and Sherman.

·      Help support our caterer. Pat's is offering gourmet Pesach meals via take-out and delivery. Meals can even be picked up curbside at Sinai Temple. You all should have received an e-mail with the details on how to place your orders. Orders must be placed by Friday, April 3 at noon . For more info, call 310 205-8705 or e-mail [email protected]

·      Our schools continue to very successfully operate online, and teachers are working hard to keep students engaged, providing creative and successful educational experiences.

·      Mt Sinai is open and conducting grave side funerals with a maximum of 10 people, plus clergy. Some staff members are working extra hours or days, given several staff over 65 or with underlying health issues are staying home.

I am so proud to be associated with Sinai Temple. Our clergy and staff are working countless hours to assist our congregants and help them feel connected. While we cannot be physically close, I hope that you feel spiritually connected to Sinai and that we are providing a little bit of brightness to you and your family.

Be Well,
Jamie Berman
Temple President
