A Message from Superintendent, Dr. Rechel M. Anderson | |
It is an honor to welcome our families and students back for the 2023-2024 school year!
I would like to take this opportunity to THANK all staff, parents, and stakeholders for a successful in-person registration process! Your commitment to ensuring that we can begin the school year without interruption is appreciated.
This year, our students will return for the first day of school, Monday, July 31, 2023. We can’t wait to see our scholars’ smiling faces.
In JCSD, we are committed to preparing each student who walks through our doors for successful futures! The first and most critical factor to your child’s success is his or her daily attendance. This year, we will continue with our focus on visiting the homes of students who are not in school and/or who are not attending school on a regular basis. We will focus on commitment, understanding, intervention, and enforcement.
Our district’s theme, this year, is “Excelling Beyond Barriers!” Together, we will join hands and work towards the same common goal: Ensuring that the students in JCSD receive the best education to be successful. This will require that we put our differences aside, refrain from looking for the wrong, but rather find the ‘silver lining in every cloud.’
Our district’s mantra remains, “Student-Centered…Future-Focused!” When we remain focused on our students and ensure that their future is focused on success, we can conquer what some would say is insurmountable.
We are pleased to welcome our new family members and welcome back our returning family members. Our district is blessed with administrators, teachers, and staff with a passion for education. I would employ each student, staff member, teacher, administrator, and parent to take every step to ensure that we are making the most of each student's potential. Working together, we can accomplish limitless success for every student.
I know that your child’s education is of the utmost importance to you, and I thank you for partnering with Jasper County School District (JCSD).
Welcome Back!

Important Information
First Day of School Reminders
-
The first day of school for students is Monday, July 31, 2023.
-
Safety is paramount and is of the utmost importance for staff and students. Every staff member, student, and visitor will enter through a medal detector and is subject to be searched while on the premises of JCSD.
-
Prepare for traffic congestion. The first day of school is very exciting. Therefore, many parents will decide to drive their children to school. Please follow the traffic pattern, be patient, and watch out for children who are walkers.
-
Go to Bed Early. Ensure that your child prepares for school the night before. It is very important that your child gets enough sleep so that he or she is attentive in school.
-
Encourage your Child. Children thrive when they are encouraged and feel confident regarding who they are. Remain positive!
-
Remain Patient. It will take time for everyone to learn the processes and/or get acclimated to establishing a routine. Therefore, expect longer wait times in the car line and possible late bus arrivals.

Knowing your child’s academic performance data is extremely important. If your child was in Grades 3rd-8th last year, your child took the state summative assessments; SC READY (ELA and MATH) and SC PASS Science (4th and 6th). Currently, the scores are embargoed; however, when the scores are unembargoed, please make every effort to know how your child scored.
If your child was in Grades 9th-11th last year, your child took the End-of-Course Assessments (Algebra I, Biology, US History, and English II). As stated, when scores are unembargoed, it is extremely important that you know how your child scored.
Academic performance is critical to your child’s overall success.
Your child will take formative assessments throughout the school year as follows:
