Dear Keller UMC Family,
We have WORSHIP plans to announce! These plans have been coming together for a number of weeks and we are so glad to be able to share them with you now! As the Covid spread in Tarrant County continues to decline, we are ready to enter the “yellow light phase” of worship activities at KUMC. As we’ve shared before, the “yellow light phase” is a time of cautionary return and a time to try new things and practice for the “green light phase” when in-person activities can fully return. The “yellow light phase” of worship at KUMC includes the following opportunities.
Vine and Branches Midweek Worship
October 1, 8, 15 and 22, at 5, 6 and 7pm
These 30 minute prayer services will include music and a devotional message of encouragement from one of the pastors. The 5pm service is set aside for at-risk participants. Reservations will be taken for these services to allow us to safely prepare for capacity. Reservations for the October 1 services will open at kellerumc.org next Friday, September 25, and we’ll send out the reservation links in the Pastor’s Email as well. Vine and Branches is not a service that will continue indefinitely but is a prototype to help us prepare for resuming in-person worship following safety guidelines.
Confirmation Sunday, September 27
Seventh grade students who have completed the confirmation program will be confirmed as full members of KUMC in worship on September 27. The students and their families will be attending the 9:30 and 11am worship services. We encourage all KUMC members to worship with us over Facebook or Livestream on September 27 and bear witness to this important step in these students’ lives.
These confirmation services are another step into “yellow light phase” worship as they will allow us to simultaneously lead worship for a congregation in-person in the Sanctuary and a congregation worshipping at home over Livestream. The online only worship that we currently lead each Sunday is designed exclusively for viewing at home. The worship leaders are in the back of the Sanctuary, speaking to a camera, with a lamp for best lighting (see the picture of Pastor Jason to get an image of this setup). As it becomes safe, we are aware that some of you are ready to return to worship in-person, and others will not feel comfortable returning for some time. We are working to adapt the current worship designed for Livestream to a format that provides a meaningful experience for both those who worship in-person and those who worship on a screen. The confirmation services on September 27 will be our first chance to practice this.
