Dear Bradfield Families,
Our school community was brought to our knees this week by the unfathomable flooding tragedy at Camp Mystic that claimed the lives of two of our precious, beloved students, Lila Bonner and Eloise Peck.
Both their mothers, Caitlin Bonner and Missy Peck, have served our school on the PTA in innumerable ways through the years. They have been so generous and willing with their time and their many talents. As a school we have benefited in huge ways from their service.
We are deeply grieving alongside these INCREDIBLE mothers, fathers and families, and as parents we are grieving alongside our children who lost their friends.
As a PTA we are here to support our students, families, and our staff as we all navigate this uncharted road together. We know the pain is palpable and can be paralyzing, and we know grief is a process. So, we will work hard to stay aware of all the needs as they arise. Our greatest priority right now is to stand in the gap for the Bonners, the Pecks and for our school community as we all process immense loss.
Part of our processing is remembering how special these two little girls were to Bradfield. Here are some beautiful sentiments about each of them, sent in by their families.
When Lila smiled, you could feel it in your bones. A bright light exploding from her soulful eyes sparking joy in the lucky recipient of her love. She was the type of friend you want your child to have and dearly loved her friends and all of her Bradfield Broncos.
Eloise was a bright, joyful spirit who brought warmth and laughter into every life she touched. Eloise was friends with everyone. She loved spaghetti, but not more than she loved dogs and animals.
Please hold Caitlin, Blake, Scarlett, and Wynn Bonner, and Missy, Tim and Holden Peck in your hearts and your prayers as we move through the coming days, months and year.
With our love and support,
Kamela Aboussie
