New Customer Service Online Survey

New Name Change Laws

Clerk Spyropoulos is committed to the implementation of this critical new law that removes barriers for those seeking a name change while ensuring the privacy and safety of vulnerable communities.


As of March 1, the following reforms under Public Act 103-1063 (https://bit.ly/4hDov1u) will go into effect.


The residency requirement will be lowered from 6 to 3 months.

Petitioners can request to impound a case based on health or safety reasons.

Around Town

Our office has been incredibly active over the last month. Staff members have been spreading the word about the Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office throughout Cook County. From community events and town hall meetings to resource fairs, our office has been engaging with the public and helping them navigate the justice system.

Rich Township

The 2025 Equality Illinois Gala is an inspirational evening dedicated to hope and empowerment. The event reinforced the importance of continuing our advocacy for the equality and rights of the LGBTQ+ community.

Lunar New Year Festivities

Clerk Spyropoulos Meets Staff

to Share Vision

Clerk Mariyana Spyropoulos joined her team at a ribbon cutting for a new breakroom at the Markham Courthouse. We also visited the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse and 8th floor (Chancery and Domestic Relation Divisions) of the Richard J. Daley Center to discuss the vision for the Office and field questions. Clerks work in more than a dozen locations throughout the county helping the public access the justice system, from filing cases to obtaining protective orders to securing an expungement. Clerk Spyropoulos has continued to meet with teams throughout the county to give staff a chance to discuss their ideas and understand her goals.

FEATURED DIVISION:

The County Division hears actions concerning a variety of matters, including, but not limited to the following: adoptions, election matters, emancipation of minors, mental health, municipal incorporations, orders of protection filed in conjunction with a mental health proceeding, name changes, tax deeds, tax objections and other matters in the Circuit Court that are not heard in another division.
