A Message From the Director
Dear CDLC members and supporters,

We hope that your year is off to a good start! What projects do you have planned? What are your professional development needs? How can CDLC best support you? Stop in and share your ideas at our Open House on Friday, January 31 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Meet our staff, see our space and mingle with members. 

We’ll also be announcing our first round of member tours and events as part of a 20 Libraries in 2020 tour. Our ten-county region encompasses a wealth of member library collections and we thank our members for opening their doors over the course of the next year to showcase their collections and to share their expertise. 
Come meet NYLA’s Executive Director and new Director of Government Relations & Advocacy on February 7 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. when CDLC hosts Getting Ready For Library Advocacy Day in partnership with Upper Hudson Library System. Learn about the legislative process then plan to join us for Library Advocacy Day on Tuesday, February 25. 

Thank you to the presenters and organizers of Bridging the Gap: Preparing High School Special Needs Students for Success in College , and to Hudson Valley Community College for hosting us earlier this week. Local connections were made and many valuable resources were shared such as the Talking Book and Braille Library , Job Accommodation Network , ACCES-VR and NY-ABLE . Speakers also shared the positive impact libraries had on their lives or others. The High School to College Interest Group will be discussing where to go from here!

Our Committee on Resource Sharing is hosting its Resource Sharing Symposium on Wednesday, April 22 at the Capital Region BOCES SLS. Come connect with your local colleagues! 
Mark your calendar and catch up with colleagues at the CDLC Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon Thursday, May 7, 2020 at The Shaker Ridge Country Club. 
REMINDER : January 31 is quickly approaching! This is the deadline for applications for the 2020 cycle of our Regional Collections grants . All member institutions, including individual public and school libraries, are eligible to apply for grants to support your digitization (New York Heritage and NYS Historic Newspapers), metadata and retrospective conversion projects.

Congratulations to Jesús Alonso-Regalado of University at Albany for being one of only 10 librarians nationwide to receive the I Love My Librarian Award!

" Merchandising Your Collection ," written by Erica Freudenberger, Outreach Consultant at Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS), was published in Library Journal last month. Saratoga Springs Public Library , a memberof SALS, and Guilderland Public Library, a member of Upper Hudson Library System , were among the libraries mentioned. 
Beyond Our Region
The Empire State Library Network presents the X Factor: Enhancing the User Experience on Thursday April 16-Friday April 17 in Oswego. Proposals are currently being accepted. 

February 3 deadline : The American Library Association (ALA) Libraries Transform Communities Engagement Grant

February 10 deadline : Participation in Library Freedom Institute , a privacy-focused four-month program for librarians.  

The Computers in Libraries 2020 Conference is in Arlington, VA from March 31- April 2 and CDLC members are eligible for a reduced rate of $359 (regularly $519). Daily rates and pre-conference workshops are not included in this price. Visit the Computers in Libraries registration page to receive discounted pricing (code: ESLN20). 
Did You Know? January 28 is Data Privacy Day . EDUCAUSE has partnered with the National Cyber Security Alliance to provide a list of resources and events.
