Due to the economic impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Keep Houston Beautiful is implementing measures to ensure the financial stability of the organization. The current pandemic situation has impacted our programming significantly, and as a result, we find that we must make some difficult personnel decisions.
Effective May 1, 2021, Keep Houston Beautiful is implementing a temporary layoff of all positions. We expect the layoff to last until at least August 2021; however, the Board will reassess the circumstances regularly and may lessen or extend this time frame. We will rehire positions as business needs warrant based first on job function and then by program.
You can continue to support our organization and our incredible programs by joining Team KHB as a member which allows us to continue to grow our mission of educating and engaging Houstonians on environmental issues regarding Litter Abatement, Recycling and Beautification. You also have an opportunity to decide where you want your membership donation to make the greatest impact in our programs and core focus areas! Together, WE Keep Houston Beautiful.
Keep Houston Beautiful serves a wonderful community that we are lucky to be part of. Our Commission remains dedicated to serving you every day with the same commitment to our values you’ve come to know. We are hopeful that by taking these proactive steps we will help to minimize the effects of this pandemic. Your support is tremendously important to all of us and we look forward to seeing you once normal business resumes.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our internal team for their countless hours of service and admirable dedication to Keep Houston Beautiful.
-Walter Hambrick, KHB Board President
Our parting Executive Director, Amy Reed, adds "Teams are not just formed. They choose to grow together, face challenges together and succeed together. Without that commitment and willingness from each individual, you'll never have a team; only staff. This has been one of the very best teams I have ever been so fortunate to work with. I am proud of them and what we have accomplished together. We will remain forever grateful for all of the experiences we've had at KHB, and especially all the great times with volunteers. We truly value all that KHB is and what it has the capacity to become. So we ask you during this very difficult time to please consider supporting not only a place we've grown to love, but an organization which has the capacity to serve the City of Houston greater than it ever has. Join the team and become a member today. All it takes is a click of button."
