Greetings from the Governing Board:
The Governing Board of MCC was able to meet on site at the Transformational Weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA in July. We then met on 8th August and 9th September as usual on Zoom.
At our August meeting we elected new officers:
- Dr. Léo Rossetti was elected to the position of Vice Chair for a one year term.
- Chad Hobbs was elected to the position of Treasurer for a one year term.
- Rev. Renae Phillips was elected to the position of Clerk for a one year term.
- Charlotte West will serve as Assistant Treasurer for a one year term.

- Welcomed our newly-re-elected Moderator back from a month away following her re-election. She returned rested and enthusiastic for her second term.
- Approved the minutes of the previous month’s meeting and the financials and dashboard [links at bottom].
- Governors agreed to these appointments:
- Human Resources Committee - James Chavis, Chad Hobbs, and Charlotte West
- Finance Committee - Chad Hobbs and Charlotte West
- Benevolence Fund Committee - Rev. Beulah Dürrheim
- MCC Doing Justice Group - Rev. Marie Alford-Harkey
- Governance Committee - James Chavis and Dr. Léo Rossetti
- Commission on General Conference - Chad Hobbs
- Commission on Rites and Sacraments - Rev. Joseph San Jose
- Fundraising group - Rev. Renae Phillips, Chad Hobbs as needed
- Marketing group - Dr. Léo Rossetti
- Strategic Planning - Rev. Renae Phillips & Rev. Joseph San Jose
- Appointed Rev. Beulah Dürrheim and Rev. Renae Phillips as Governing Board representatives to the Nominating Process Review Group and reviewed the draft Terms of Reference for this group. More details about who will serve on the Review Group will be forthcoming. This group will review both the Governing Board and Moderator nominating process, and make recommendations for future elections
- Appointed Sam Carwyn, Rev. Dr. Brett Degoldi, Rev. Elder Dr. Carmen Margarita Sanchez de Leon, Rev. Mario Bonfanti, and Rev. Cathy Alexander, to continue to serve on the Commission on Rites and Sacraments. Other individuals will be invited to serve as Commissioners.
- Reviewed a section of Governing Board Handbook Policy 2, regarding evaluations and discussed ideas for 2026. Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston will share the current end-of-year evaluation process for staff, including the Moderator.
- Agreed to establish prayer partners within the Governing Board to strengthen our faith and ministry.
