A Message from the Rector
Dearly beloved,
You likely have prayer practices or rhythms that feed you (whether or not consciously think of them that way). By all means, keep doing these! Water your plants, walk the dog, have a chat with God over coffee, etc.
And… if you’re overloaded with decision making and open to trying something new this Advent, let me offer a few possibilities for you and the Holy Spirit to consider.
I’ve got some flexibility, but I need/want a time and place to show up with other people.
- Join us for Morning Prayer at 9 AM in the chancel. Pick the weekday(s) that works for you, and we will see you there. And we will pass the peace before getting on with the rest of the day God gives us.
- Come to the noonday Eucharist on Wednesdays. We will have you on your way by 12:30 PM.
- Join the Advent Formation series on how leaders in our community make room for Christ in serving their neighbors or join the Sunday morning Bible study led by Debbie Moyer. Both are at 9 AM on the Second Floor of the PLC.
I have practically no flexibility, but I like to read.
Consider borrowing or purchasing a copy of Watch for the Light: Readings for Advent and Christmas published by Plough Publishing House. It is a beautiful, thought-provoking collection of excerpts, poems and reflections by Christian writers past and present.
I am swamped and I don’t have time to read/it’s just not my jam right now. Can someone just send me an email?
Consider signing up for the Ignatian Simplicity Challenge. Each day of Advent, a new virtual door opens to give you an idea for simplifying amidst all the other messages we receive this season to buy, spend, or consume more.
I’m less of a thinker and more of a doer. Isn’t there some kind of Advent calendar of good works I can do (possibly with my family)?
Yep! Here you go
Looking for something more specific/not included here?
Send me an email, and I will do my best to help you find what you are looking for.
In Christ’s love ever,
Imogen +
