Dear Parent/Guardians,
We continue to closely monitor developments regarding the COVID-19 situation and are making informed decisions based on guidance from the CDC as well as local and state health and government agencies.
This week, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg issued a third public health emergency and prohibited gatherings of more than 50 people. Additionally, President Trump requested that we close all schools for the next 15 days. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we are joining other San Antonio area districts in extending our closure of campus classrooms through Friday, April 3.
To assist our families during the District’s school closure, we have announced plans to launch a curbside meal service program for our students. Breakfast will be distributed from 7:30 – 9 AM and lunch from 11:30 AM – 1 PM beginning tomorrow, March 18 and will continue every Monday through Friday until further notice. Children receiving meals must be present in the vehicle at time of pickup. Meals will be distributed in the pavilion area of our 4018 S. Presa campus.
Our academic staff has been hard at work developing ways to implement remote instruction during this time. An update on this effort is as follows:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. We want to reiterate a request to our broader community to take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness:
- Don’t shake hands
- Wash your hands regularly with plenty of soap and warm water
- Limit movement within the community, especially avoiding crowded places and maintaining 6 ft of distance between other people (at least an arm’s length)
- If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19, call your health care provider for medical advice
- Keep your child at home if he/she feels ill, even if you think it is just a cold
- Do not leave the house if you are ill, except to access medical care
- If ANYONE in your household tests positive for COVID-19, EVERYONE should self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days
The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District has opened a COVID-19 hotline, (210) 207-5779, for residents to ask questions about the virus. The hotline is available in English and Spanish and is open Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This is a quickly changing situation, we will continue to coordinate with other school districts and health agencies to determine if there is a need to extend the campus closures further. We will provide additional updates to our community via social media and email.
