September 2, 2020
Let me start with a genuine THANK YOU! Our week has gone very well in part due to your flexibility, patience, and positivity in light of the many new procedures at the start of this most unconventional school year.. As we all get used to our new approaches, we thought it would be helpful to send out some information.
In Accordance with Health Department Guidance
If a child has any COVID-19 related symptoms, please know they must stay home as well as siblings. The child and siblings may return to school if a health provider submits an alternative diagnosis or a negative COVID-19 test result is provided.
If a child exhibits any COVID-19 related symptoms while at school, please know we must call parents to pick up the child, as well any siblings in our schools. We must also close any rooms/areas that child was in that day for sanitization. This may require AM or PM classes to learn from alternate areas. All five schools have already successfully managed this situation.
Communication Regarding Positive Cases of COVID-19
If there is a positive COVID-19 student or staff case, we would follow our protocol with the Cook County Health Department and send letters immediately to those directly impacted. We will also follow up with school and District communications. Bottom line, you will know when we have a positive case.
Preparation for Inclement Weather
Please continue to send your child to school with a large, filled water bottle and straw. While we are enjoying cooler weather this week, we remain vigilant on monitoring heat given our frequent use of outdoor learning spaces. In case of rain, please ensure that students have appropriate rain gear as we will continue our check-in procedures outdoors and potentially hold class under the tents.
Reminder - No Student Attendance on Monday, September 7, 14, or 28
Again, thank you for your partnership as we work together to support our students and strive to keep our community safe. It has been a phenomenal start - we are so grateful!
