A Message from the VP

Good Morning,

As you may know, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority was not pulling from the Housing Choice Voucher Wait List to avoid a shortfall. HUD recently notified CMHA that it is no longer projecting the agency to be in a shortfall status. That means we are working to assist more families with affordable housing. As such we are pulling from our wait list, and those families will begin searching for a home and you can help them. Please plan to attend Your Rental Connection on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm at 1635 Western Avenue. The weekly event provides an opportunity for voucher holders searching for housing to meet property owners/managers with vacant units. Registration for the event is requested, click here for more information.

Now in Effect!

CMHA has moved the Request for Tenancy Approval (RFTA) online. All RTAs must be submitted electronically effective June 16th. This change will require an adjustment, and we understand that. Our HCV Team will provide additional information sessions online. There are also resource guides to assist everyone in completing the process on our website www.cintimha.com. The Ask the Expert sessions will be held June 23 & 24, and on Mondays and Fridays in July. Sessions are also offered for tenants. The complete schedule is available on our calendar, click here to see it.

The IRS requires that CMHA maintains accurate and updated W-9 for each entity/business/LLC (not every unit) that currently receives Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) from CMHA. Blank W-9 forms can be downloaded by clicking here. Please provide this information to CMHA by June 30, 2025 to prevent delays in payments. Documents should be emailed to the Finance Department at HCV.Finance@cintimha.com or mail them to CMHA Finance, 1635 Western Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45214. If you have already emailed a new W-9 for 2025, thank you, you do not have to send it again.

As an additional reminder, as of January 1, 2025, a unit must include a ten-year tamper resistant battery-operated or hard-wired smoke detector, in proper working condition, in each of the following locations: - On each level of the unit; - Inside each bedroom; - Within 21 feet of any door to a bedroom measured along a path of travel. Units not abiding by these requirements will fail an inspection requiring a 24-hour correction. Carbon monoxide detectors are required for units with attached garages and those with fuel burning appliances. Additionally, HUD previously extended the deadline for implementation of NSPIRE V. The implementation of the new Inspection Standards is October 1, 2025. Please click here to visit HUD’s website.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to join me at the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Libraries. I enjoyed speaking with you while sharing updates. Your partnership in providing affordable housing solutions to the families of Hamilton County is truly appreciated. With that being said… Do you have a landlord you’d like us to spotlight? CMHA staff, voucher holders, partner organizations and landlords can suggest property owners and managers for this recognition. If you have a suggestion, please indicate why this person(s) should be recognized. Email the details and photos (if available) to this link: HCV Help.

Kind regards,

Lisa Isham
