Founder's Note

December 2025

As we close out another year, I want to thank you for supporting HarborPath in our mission to serve unmet needs and deliver life-saving care to those who need it most. This past year, HarborPath provided over $9 million in critical medications to uninsured and vulnerable patients at no cost.

This year also marked a major milestone in our efforts to combat the overdose and fentanyl crisis. Building on the success of our On Campus pilot at Ole Miss, we launched our second fentanyl and naloxone awareness campaign at the University of Oklahoma, putting vital health information and free naloxone directly into the hands of students. Our innovative approach utilizes student-athletes to address their fellow students on social media, encouraging them to pick up free naloxone and educate themselves on fake pills. Overdose deaths continue to devastate communities, but initiatives like these are driving meaningful change where it is needed most.

Recognizing the growing need for stronger, smarter public policy, we also launched the HarborPath Policy Council. This initiative brings together advocates and policy experts to champion legislation that improves access to medications and supports patients navigating chronic and complex conditions, such as epilepsy and cancer. Through the HP Policy Council, HarborPath is positioned to lead at both the state and federal levels.

As we look ahead, our work remains critical. Your support makes everything we do possible, and we are deeply grateful for your continued partnership.

Wishing you a joyful, healthy, and peaceful holiday season.

HarborPath Policy Council Launches Website, Works to Protect Patients from Epilepsy Deaths

Earlier this month, the HarborPath Policy Council attended the Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME) Conference in Atlanta. Our team was able to meet with advocates who are working tirelessly to prevent deaths from epilepsy.

A core priority of the HarborPath Policy Council’s 2026 agenda is advancing public policies that protect lives and reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). SUDEP is the leading cause of epilepsy-related mortality among individuals with uncontrolled seizures, and it claims more than 3,400 lives in the United States each year. This represents more annual deaths than those caused by fires or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Strengthening awareness, access to care, and preventive interventions is essential to preventing these deaths.

The HarborPath Policy Council is dedicated to ensuring patients with life-threatening and chronic conditions can access the medications and care they need through the enactment of effective public policies.

We encourage you to learn more about our new advocacy organization at our newly-launched website: www.hppolicy.org

HarborPath Campus Ambassador Danny Okoye Named to SEC Community Service Team

Danny Okoye, a freshman defensive lineman at the University of Oklahoma, has been named to the 2025 SEC Football Community Service Team.

HarborPath has partnered with Danny on a social media awareness campaign to protect OU students from overdose and fentanyl poisoning. His work as a campus ambassador for HarborPath is helping protect OU students and creating a safer campus environment.

In addition to playing for one of the top defenses in college football, Danny maintains an active volunteer schedule with local schools and nonprofits. Danny and the Sooners face Alabama in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Friday, Dec. 19.

We're proud to have Danny as a student-athlete ambassador and congratulate him on this incredible honor!

Ken’s Take: Danny has been a terrific advocate for free naloxone access on his campus, and I'm not surprised by this honor. HarborPath knows the importance of having opioid reversal tools such as naloxone available within arm’s reach. This is why we’ve partnered with Danny, the University of Oklahoma and the pharmacy at OU Goddard Health Center to direct students to free naloxone.

It’s also why we advocate for the ODRescue Box – a resource that’s easy to find and utilize when an overdose emergency occurs in an academic building, dormitory or fraternity house on any college campus. Our partnership with FFF Enterprises enables efficient and simple distribution of both naloxone and ODRescue Boxes to organizations, state agencies and schools who are looking to protect lives in areas most susceptible to overdose or fentanyl poisoning.
