We had a blast at the 2024 #IAMPSL Citizen Summit, with 900 residents attending - 100 more than last year! A huge shoutout to our hardworking team, especially the Communications, Strategic Initiatives & Innovation, and Parks & Rec crews, along with all city departments, for making it rock. The very valuable feedback provided at this event only helps Port St. Lucie's continuous improvement.
Council Approves Expansion of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital to Meet Growing Healthcare Demand
The City Council approved a major site plan amendment for the HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility in the eastern part of the city. The expansion includes adding 57 beds and 138 parking spaces to better serve residents. The proposed project aligns with the city's strategic plan for balanced growth and responds to the increasing demand for healthcare services in our area.
Hogpen Slough STA Project will Enhance Environmental Management
The Council recently approved a contract for design & permitting of Hogpen Slough Stormwater Treatment Area (STA), aligning with the City's goal to provide High-Quality Infrastructure and Facilities. This project, identified as a high priority in the City’s Stormwater Master Plan, addresses water quality concerns highlighted in the 2018 report by the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. By constructing a stormwater treatment area and updating control structures, the initiative aims to enhance water quality management, improve flood control, and address environmental challenges in the St. Lucie River basin.
City Council to Hold 3-day Winter Workshop
On February 21-23, 2024 the city will hold its 3-day City Council Winter Workshop at the Community Center. The council workshop is a meeting held twice a year to discuss specific topics in a more informal setting compared to regular council meetings. These workshops often serve as a platform for the council to delve deeper into complex issues, receive presentations from city staff or outside experts, and engage in in-depth discussions. While workshops may involve decision-making discussions, they typically do not involve formal voting on agenda items. The purpose of these workshops is to facilitate collaboration, brainstorming, and information sharing among the Council, staff, and members of the public.

Major Road Project Updates
St. Lucie West Boulevard & I-95
Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) St. Lucie West Boulevard Widening Project is wrapping up construction. All lanes are now open with paving, signage, pedestrian, traffic signal implementation, and lighting throughout the corridor complete. Punch list items are now being addressed and are expected to be complete by the end of March.
Port St. Lucie Boulevard South
In January 2024, progress continued on the PSL Blvd. South, Segment 3 City Managed Project. All structural paving, drainage work, sidewalk, ADA ramps and traffic signal activities on southbound PSL Blvd. are complete. The contractor has shifted traffic into Phase 3 where they will be working on the median, reconstructing the road to the new elevations and finishing the drainage crossings to the northbound side of PSL Blvd. A temporary road was constructed to shift northbound traffic to perform work on current northbound lanes.
Simultaneously, the PSL Blvd South, Segment 2.1 FDOT Managed Project saw advancements, including drainage pipe installation, canal excavation, removal of existing watermain pipe, final force main work between N Globe and Alexandria and installation of mast arm uprights at Alcantarra and Tunis Avenue. February 2024 anticipates installation of watermain pipe, connecting force main pipe, continued pond excavation, beginning temporary widening construction along northbound Port St. Lucie Boulevard to implement a traffic shift as well as continuing installation of traffic signal components at signalized intersections.
Gatlin Boulevard & I-95
Gatlin Boulevard/I-95 project is complete and is pending final close out by the end of February 2024.
Residents may still see construction taking place in the area of Tradition Parkway and SW Village Parkway. In January, the City started working on the construction improvements to extend the westbound right turn lane from the I-95 ramp onto SW Village Parkway. The project will require lane closures of the outer right lane during construction. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting.
Torino Parkway
A roundabout will replace an existing four-way stop at East Torino Parkway and Turtle Dove Lane. The roundabout will provide sidewalk connections as well as a school bus pick-up and drop-off with sidewalk connection.
In addition to this project will be extended turn lanes at Torino and Midway to accommodate periods of heavy traffic.
